It is an issue that I'm sure every team considered but it would equally weigh with a great personality on the team and instant fan favorite. I really think what did Rolle in was taking a year off from football. Its too difficult to come back without losing a step. Still you can't blame Rolle for looking out for himself in the future.

I think its gonna turn out to be a good draft. We turned one second round pick into incredible valuable. As for the defensive ends, we went with the philosophy that you draft the best player on your board and not just for need. Its never a bad thing to have too much talent in one position and we can really use developing a young defensive line alongside Trent that can help our secondary out a lot. Not all of our picks will turn out, but when you take 13 (or 11) quality picks you're gonna hit somewhere.

The main things I got out of the draft were:
1) Our offensive line is fine, thank you very much. I'm shocked, but Reid and co. obviously think they can get production out of the line. With Jamaal Jackson hurt and Stacy Andrews sharing DNA with his brother, this was a bold statement.

2) Our defense needed an overhaul. This whole off-season has been statement. Our offense is already one of the youngest in the league and now we add 9 rookie defenders into training camp. First true off-season with McDermott: out with the old, in with the new.

3) We're gonna build an offense that is Kolb friendly. Maybe this is just me being hopeful but drafting a tight end, big red-zone wide receiver, and a big short yardage back are the three best ways to help out a young quarterback.... except for that whole line thing....

Lets just hope Reid knows what he's doing and Kolb wouldn't be eaten alive before he finishes his dropback.
Fanaca anyone?Section118noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2846784286167706893.post-69406248771435971612010-04-25T00:19:36.082-04:002010-04-25T00:19:36.082-04:00I do think Mays is a football player, and I think ...I do think Mays is a football player, and I think he's gonna be good, but everything I hear about Allen is great. Admittedly, I don't know anything about him, which is why he's off my radar. I think Rolle is a much better player than his draft grade was, but teams were scared off because they didn't know if he really wants to play football. Whatever. Players that are that smart are usually good.

I don't really know what to make of this team's draft. I'm not upset or anything, just confused. Two defensive ends in their first three picks? Three defensive ends overall? Kind of crazy.

Of course, no one knows anything until we get to see these guys play. Should be interesting.Reverend Paul Reverehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02293762371442776830noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2846784286167706893.post-76665955354937518532010-04-24T23:36:39.682-04:002010-04-24T23:36:39.682-04:00I'm happy we didn't go with Mays. He'...I'm happy we didn't go with Mays. He's got a great athlete with a ton of talent but just not a football player. He has zero instinct.

But Myron Rolle in the 2nd round? Really???????? You know he was one pick away from the 7th, right? I like my neurosurgeon/Rhode scholars too but thats not a reason to draft someone. He's not that fast and doesn't have coverage ability. Allen will be a great fit with our defense and covering Asante's assSection118noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2846784286167706893.post-61425321569015725602010-04-23T13:41:42.171-04:002010-04-23T13:41:42.171-04:00I know he has issues covering, but I think he can ...I know he has issues covering, but I think he can get that coached out of him. He's a lot more athletic and faster than a Roy Williams. Also, seriously, look at the dude. He's one of the most physically intimidating players alive. Name me one player the Eagles have on defense that terrifies you with laying the wood. There isn't one.

Trent Cole is the only one who even hits hard, but he's not hitting any receivers. With Sheldon gone, they are soft back there. They need a hitter. A big, physical hitter. And if he's fast, all the better.Reverend Paul Reverehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02293762371442776830noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2846784286167706893.post-77059711815177606302010-04-23T13:13:12.645-04:002010-04-23T13:13:12.645-04:00I'm shocked you're endorsing a pick for Ta...I'm shocked you're endorsing a pick for Taylor Mays.Kennyhttp://twitter.com/soulonice6noreply@blogger.com
