Phils Get Eyre

So, Pat Gillick made a move after all, trading for lefty Scott Eyre.

I know what you're thinking. "Can he start?" Well, no. "Can he hit?" Not exactly. "Oh, so the Phils bolstered what has been the strongest aspect of their team instead of addressing a real need." Yeah, that pretty much sums things up.

Sure Eyre is a lefthanded reliever, which is a hot commodity in baseball. However, unlike some people, I'm not so pumped about the move. Eyre's ERA this season: an Eaton-esque 7.15. Granted, he only pitched in 11 games and has had some success in the past. Let's hope he can turn around his season in Philly.
