Travis Cliff Lee the Phillie

Well ladies and gentleman, the Phillies now have four starting lefthanders, as evidently, the Phils have traded for Cliff Lee, last year's American League Cy Young winner.

The Phils are shipping Carlos Carrasco, Jason Donald, Jason Knapp and Lou Marson to Cleveland for Lee and Ben Francisco, a 27-year-old righthanded outfielder who is hitting .250 with 10 home runs, 33 RBI and 13 steals.

Welcome to Philadelphia, Cliff Lee. I hope your career is much, much better than Travis Lee's here in Philadelphia.

How nuts would it be if they got Halladay too? Seriously.

BallHype: hype it up!

So Apparently It's Tuesday

I gotta tell you, this whole four-day wedding weekend has really thrown off just about everything in my life here in the short term. By some miracle of God, today is Tuesday, although my body tells me it is a Monday.

That's the good news. It's Tuesday. The bad news is I saw very little sports this weekend, despite it being the first weekend of college football, thanks to my sister's wedding. Now, I won't get all uppity about it. I did many things over the weekend to make up for it, and frankly, I don't regret it. What I do regret is not seeing Derrick Williams' kickoff return, although I did hear it on the radio.

Shitty video, but it's the only one I could find.

All in all, it sounded as though Penn State looked just fine, although from what I'm hearing from Arkansas Fred, I'm in for a rude awakening with the fans in our section. Honestly, if you wear a cowboy hat in Pennsylvania, actually anywhere, you should be shot. Unless you look like this:

On a bright note, Tony Hunt made the Eagles. He earned it. And man, that guy was a beast in college.

Sad to see McDougle cut after finally having a solid preseason, but he had more than enough chances in the past to validate his first round selection. The Eagles should be fine on the defensive line without him. And Rocky Boiman sucks. I'm glad to see him gone. Let this be a lesson to the Eagles, white linebackers should never been brought in through trades, free agency or any first or second round draft pick. Ever. Unless it's Urlacher or Poz and maybe Connor. Remember Mark Simoneau? Or Matt McCoy? Yeah, they sucked. And so did Boiman. Glad to see him gone. Now Stewart Bradley, it is up to you to get white linebackers back in my good graces. God knows you guys need it.

As far as the Phillies are concerned, what more can I say? Matt Stairs is old, slow and can sometimes hit. Great pickup. Adam Eaton is back. Really. I'm not making this up. The guy couldn't even get minor leaguers out. Now he's here to help the Phils overcome a 2-game deficit to the Mets. Yeah, right. No Carlos Carrasco. But at least Golson and Marson are up. Hopefully Charlie will let them play.

This division is so freaking pathetic. I don't expect either the Mets for Phils to pull away. And either team will lose in the first round. Unless Sheets is dead. Which he isn't.

Oh yeah, and last night's UCLA-Tennessee game was awesome. I'm all sorts of pumped college football is back.

That is all. Hopefully, after I'm done catching up on work, I can read about what's going on in the sports world and share some cool things I find. If not, I don't really care. I had a pretty nice little Saturday even if I didn't get to see any football. I can't imagine I'll ever say that again in my life.

Where am I? September?

The Phillies managed to split a four-game series with the Cubs this weekend. Which if you think about it, was what anyone could have hoped for coming into the series. The Cubs have strong starting pitching, a bullpen that seems to be pretty, pretty, pretty, pretty good, and a potent lineup of batters. So we should be happy the Phillies split two games with the best team in the National League, right?

Wrong. Those idiots had a chance to sweep the Chicago in Chicago and their horrible bullpen choked. Ryan Madson is not very good. He really isn't. Somehow Clay Condrey is still on this team. I don't know how. They had a chance to send a message to the whole National League and they blew it. And they wasted another Cole Hamels gem in the process. If I was Cole, I would sue the bullpen and hitters for the 5 million dollars he will lose when he goes to arbitration because they fucked up his wins. Thankfully, we will get help with the September call-ups as Adam Eaton, who couldn't win in the minors, makes his way back up to the big leagues. That will be a HUGE help. I don't know a situation that Charlie could put him in the game and be confident about it.

I am excited to get a chance to see Lou Marson and Golson up with the club. Golson could help in pinch-runner situations immediately. We don't need Kyle Kendrick running the bases as a pinch runner anytime soon again. Also, thank the Lord for Brett Myers. Where has this guy been? If he was pitching like this all year, we'd have a 5 game lead on the Mets right now.

Also, I wish Jerome McDougle wasn't on the Giants, cause I want to actually root for the guy. But I can't and I won't. Huge Penn State win this weekend. They showed they are a lot better than Coastal Carolina. Let's hope Beanie Wells is out for the year. And Michigan lost. I hate Michigan. That whole state is a douchebag. And I got Alumni Penn State tickets for the first time this year with Rev. Paul, and we get stuck in a section with three guys wearing Penn State cowboy hats in front of us. I'm not sure we will last too long in that section. Note to the guys in the cowboy hats and fans in general - Every time your team gets a first down, you don't have to stand up in unison and point in the direction of the first down. We all know it's a first down. It's not funny, it's not cool. It's stupid and annoying and I want to punch you in the fucking face until your nose breaks off. You fucking assholes. I wish bad things for you.
