No JayVaughn for Nova This Year

The 12th-ranked Villanova Wildcats suffered a pretty big blow in their bid for another Final Four this season, as the school suspended star freshman recruit JayVaugh Pinkston for the spring semester:

The power forward from Brooklyn will be suspended from the univesity for the spring semester. He will be allowed to appeal for reinstatement next June, and would have four seasons of eligiblity remaining.

All indications are that he plans to return.

He will be allowed to complete this semester, both as a student and practice with the team, which ends Dec. 19.

Pinkston was the headliner for Jay Wright's 2010 recruiting class. The 6'7, 260-lb freshman McDonald's All-American out of Bishop Loughlin was the New York Player of the Year as a senior and expected to be a big contributor for Nova. Now the Wildcats will have to wait until 2011-12 for Pinkston to make his Villanova basketball debut, assuming he gets reinstated in June.
