Parent Returns

As some added insurance and depth, the Flyers have recalled Ryan Parent and Jared Ross from the Phantoms. Parent, who was slated to be one of the Flyers' top six defensemen before the season, never got the chance due a shoulder injury. In the meantime, the Flyers traded for Matt Carle and Andrew Alberts to fill the void, and the two have solidified the defense along with Kimmo Timonen, Braydon Coburn, Randy Jones and Ossi Vaananen.

However, with Luca Sbisa back in Juniors, Parent has been brought back to the big club as insurance in case Coburn cannot go tonight against the conference-leading Bruins. Coburn and Jones both missed the last game due to the flu, and Coburn sat out of practice yesterday due to sickness. Either way, it's nice to have the depth with Parent, the 21-year-old who played pretty damn well down the stretch last year, not to mention Lasse Kukkonen.

Ross was no doubt added to try to provide a spark to some current Flyers, especially fourth-liners.
