Watch Your Step

This is what happened last time Villanova took on North Carolina in the NCAA Tournament, the infamous "walk" game.

North Carolina went on to win the National Championship. Villanova went on to build a national program under Jay Wright. It was one of those games for Nova fans that had them livid, and wondering what if, had Curtis Sumpter not gotten hurt. It had Carolina fans yelling at the television for Roy Williams to start demanding his team to throw the ball inside to Sean May, seeing as he scored every time he touched it and Nova had no answer for him inside.

Truth be told, Wright completely outcoached Roy in that game. I remember it like it was yesterday. But in the end, with a little helping hand from the refs, Carolina's talent took over and carried the Tar Heels to victory.

Tomorrow night, the Cats get a chance to redeem themselves. While I won't be rooting for Nova to win, I know most of the Delaware Valley will be. I do know, however, I am incredibly anxious to watch this game, and whoever wins, Nova or UNC, I'm hoping will win it all.

Tipoff is slated for 8:47 p.m. tomorrow. Whatever you do, make sure you have an unobstructed view of a television. You won't want to miss this.

BallHype: hype it up!

  1. that call was fucking bullshit and everyone knows it. i've seen it a million times and no one has ever been able to show me a walk, but no one has the balls to come out and say that the ref fucked up or was just too much on carolina's meat. either way that guy should've been fired and killed himself. what a damn shame to have a great game like that decided by some dickhead, moron, asshole in a stripped shirt.

  2. to be fair, it was a terrible call, but it didn't decide the game. That shot would have cut Nova's deficit to one and the free throw would have tied it. And there was plenty of time left.

Nova lost because they couldn't shut down May. And they lost this weekend because they weren't as good as UNC.

  3. maybe it didn't decide the game but it certainly changed the complexion. either way i think that is the first time i've heard you openly say it was a horrible call and somehow that makes me feel better
