If a Repeat of 2007 is in the Cards, This is a Nice Start

Philadelphia's favorite ex-closer, Billy Wagner, is out for the rest of the season—and the 2009 season as well. It couldn't have happened to a better guy.

Sure Wagner has been out for a while now, and the Mets have been winning without him, but this is good news for the Phils. At two games back, they still have a chance. With Wagner on the shelf for good, there is no hope in New York's mind that he can come back. They're stuck with what they have, which has actually been pretty solid of late despite being horrendous most of the season.

Here's hoping the Mets bullpen returns to its imploding self, opening the door for another choke job. And Chase Utley would like to remind you New Yorkers, whether you are Yankee or Mets fans, "Boo? Fuck you!"

  1. I almost am saddened by this...any loss of ground by the Mets that involves an implosion by Billy Boy and then the resulting interview would actually be a good thing for us. However, if he gets hit by a bus on his way home from surgery, I won't be upset.
